The beginning of May 2006 Bir Krishna Goswami during a Sunday feast
made an announced to the congregation that he was putting the ball in their
court. "If you want to build a new temple you need to take
initiative and get the project started." He explained
that the
fundraising for the planning phase of the new temple would be the hardest part. Most
people will not give money to a project until they can actually see
something coming out of the ground. Vikram prabhu took up the
challenge immediately and contacted Bir Krishna Goswami who then ask
me to arrange a meeting with a few devotees. You can read
most of what we did during the next eight months on our website.
At our last meeting Dec 24, 06 we agreed on the hiring of the
Civil engineer firm and a Landscaping Designer that would start us
on the path toward building a new temple for Sri Sri Radha
Golokananda. We also discussed plans for our first major
fundraising event that will be held in Cary on January 21st.
I have contacted both firms and informed them that we have
accepted their proposals and we look forward to working with them on
this exciting project. MANA Engineers, Surveyors and Planners
will be the Civil engineer firm and Kempinski Designs, LLC will be
the landscape designer. They will prepare the site plan to be
submitted for approval to the city of Hillsborough.
We have called this, phase one site plan approval.
This phase will cost about $30,000 of which over half has already
been raised. We hope that by May of 2007, we will have site
plan approval. We want to thank everyone who has donated so
far for this important project. We still need your financial
support to complete this phase and go on to the next phase.
The next phase is called phase two building design and detail
working drawings. We expect the cost to be about
$75,000. Some of this work has already been started by Jadurani and
Omkara. Omkara has been working on building plans of which the
foot print will be submitted with the site plan. One plan is to hire
a draftsperson from a local school to work part time on the details
of the drawings. That person will get detail input from
professionals on; structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing,
along with system specialist on kitchen design, multimedia and other
professional consultants. The draftsperson will be guided by
Omkara and Jadurani.
We hope to have the ground breaking ceremony this Janmastami.
