March News

The month of March was incredibly busy at New Goloka with festivals and gatherings. Starting with Gaura Purnima, the appearance day of Lord Caitanya, Garuda das Prabhu came from Virginia. He is a professor of religion, who received his PHD from Harvard University. He gave a wonderful lecture on the teachings of Lord Caitanya. It turned out to be a very blissful festival. We received more guests than expected. Everything was so wonderful!

There was a grand opening of the new gift store- Goloka Gifts. It is three times larger than the previous gift store and now has a wider variety of goods. Some of the new additions are a refrigerator stocked full of prasada, other dry snack treats, water fountains and clothing with more new merchandise on the way. Most of the devotees and guests are astounded by the progress created by the new management. Daya Vira and bhakta William worked tirelessly to finish the remodeling of the guest house. The whole interior of the building looks fresh with newly renovated restrooms.

Srila Bir Krsna Goswami just returned from India. He had a six week pilgrimage traveling around south India, Mayapur, Vrindavan and Jagannatha Puri accompanied by 40 devotees from various places in Europe, Australia and Fiji. Upon his return to New Goloka during a Sunday feast, he gave a fantastic presentation of all the holy places they visited. The devotees were enlivened by having his association.

Indradyumna Maharaj, the famous traveling preacher, visited the New Goloka community. We had two house programs. Devotees were very pleased to receive him and have his association. We had ecstatic kirtans and heard of his wonderful preaching experiences.

On the 25th of March, we celebrated Ram navmi. Srila Bir Krsna Maharaj read from the Ramayana making the pastimes of the Lord come alive for all who were present. He narrated pastimes of Lord Ramachandra which we had never heard before. There was also a beautiful dance performed followed by sumptuous prasadam.

A group of devotees, Daya Vira, Prema Manjari, Karuna, Kalindi and Golokanada Priya are holding regular meetings every Thursday to discuss of how to plan the Holi festival. Daya Vira is extremely busy editing and printing the fliers in addition to coordinating the preparation for the upcoming Festival of Color on April 21st. All are invited to attend and participate!

With the corporation of all the wonderful devotees, everything went smoothly. May the supreme controller, Their Lordships SriSri Radha Golokananda, lend a hand us in our endeavor to take care of Their temple.
